My Thankful Blog | Denver Wedding Photographer

As I sit here drinking my coffee the day after Thanksgiving, I am taken back a little bit on what the last year has been like. It has been full of ups and downs and loop de loops. I was inspired by a good friend of mine and someone that I look up to very much (Ashley Durham of Randy + Ashley Studios) to share a little bit of an obligatory Thankful post. So, here it is!

I am so very thankful for the amazing, doctors and nurses and techs at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital and Rocky Mountain Children's Hosptial. When Hayes decided to make his appearance 5 weeks early, we were prepared for a NICU stay, but then he got a pneumothorax everything changed. We were transferred to Rocky Mountain Children's where Hayes stayed for 10 days. He had a chest tube and was intubated and pretty heavily medicated for days. But, now he is a happy and healthy 8-month-old and I couldn't be more thankful for his care team and modern medicine.

Rachel of Rachel Bausch Photography! I am so very thankful for the amazing friend that I met a few years ago that came out to Colorado twice to help shoot weddings with me when I was only a few weeks postpartum. I couldn't have done it without her!

I am thankful for our beautiful new house that we built this year and moved into in May. It was a hard road, but totally worth it because not only do we live in our dream house, but we live in the most amazing neighborhood. We have truly moved into a village where everyone's kids are loved and watched over.

I was diagnosed with postpartum depression/anxiety after having Hayes. (ugh. that was way harder to type than I thought) That is something that I have struggled with before and I was so embarrassed the first time it happened. I wasn't going to do that this time and I am being treated for that. I am thankful for Matt for supporting me and caring for me when it was really hard.

People always ask me how I do it? Guess what? I don't do it alone. Not only do I have an amazing husband that supports me and pushes me to achieve my goals and dreams, but my parents live literally 5 minutes away. They take the kids for fun and give Matt and I time together. They take each kid on a date about once a month. On wedding days when Matt is my 2nd shooter they will take all of the kids. They support me in my goals and dreams, too. So, I am thankful for my amazing parents and I am thankful that they live so close.

I have 5 boys. I am thankful that they love me and don't question my weird work schedule. Sometimes they don't understand and sometimes they want me to stay home when I can't. But, they are happy and healthy and they know what it looks like to chase after your dreams!

I'm sure I could go on forever on what I'm thankful for, but I won't bore you. I will add one more. I am thankful for all of you. My past, present, and future clients. All of this would not be possible without all of you amazing people!
